Cat rides on the roof of a van going 60 miles per hour in Nebraska

A two-year-old cat took a scary ride on the top of a van going 60 miles per hour in Nebraska.

He was hanging on for dear life, and it was all caught on camera.

The owner, Michelle Criger, said her cat must have hitched a ride for two miles through neighborhood streets, hills and then the interstate before anyone noticed.

Sounds like Rebel is living up to his name.

“He takes off, does what he wants,” Criger laughs. “He’s a rebel. He does everything he wants to do.”

It was like a game of cat and mouse as a family in another car one lane over tried to get Criger’s attention.

“Just before he came alongside me and started honking, I thought I heard a ‘meow,’ and I didn’t say anything to my boyfriend because I’m thinking to myself, ‘Why would I hear a ‘meow?'”

Criger and her boyfriend pulled over and realized it was their pet.

“When I got him off the roof of the van, he wasn’t scared at all,” said Criger. “He wasn’t shaking, heart racing, nothing. We were more scared than him.”

Criger had several people call her after seeing the story, but she hadn’t seen the video until the reporter showed it to her during the interview.

Criger said the cat often roams the neighborhood during the day or spends time inside the van or under it, not usually on top.

After this, Criger now checks everywhere around her van before driving off.

“Every night, every day, we look under the van and on top of the van now.”

The owner said she’s thankful to the people who got her attention and everyone who’s been asking about her pet.
