A year ago Campbell High School alumnus Jocelyn Alo was just finishing high school graduation and a state softball championship with the Sabers.
Now, the Oklahoma superstar hitter is National Freshman of the Year on the verge of a national championship with the Sooners.
Alo was given the honor Tuesday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
The Hau’ula native leads the NCAA in home runs with 28, 4th in runs batted in with 70, and is hitting .415 which ranks 30th in the nation.
Oklahoma will play Washington in their Women’s College World Series opener Thursday. The Huskies feature Maui High alum Nawai Kaupe and Kamehameha-Kapalama grad Rachel Ogasawara. First pitch is at 8:30 am HST on ESPN.
