The University of Hawaii Men’s Basketball team added to its class of 2016-17 recruiting class Thursday, as 6-foot-8 Gibson Johnson announced his commitment on Twitter.
Johnson, a sophomore with two years of eligibility is a power forward who averaged 12 points and six rebounds per game for the Junior College National Champions of Salt Lake Community College this past season.
He chose UH over North Carolina State and Utah Valley.
Johnson joins a class that includes guards Larry Lewis Jr, Drew Buggs, Leland Green, and Matthew Owies, wing Noah Allen, and forward Zigmars Raimo.2016-17 recruiting class

The official signing period for NCAA Division I recruits ended on May 18, but he can still sign a scholarship agreement with Hawai’i. An official announcement will come from UH once paperwork is signed and approved.
UH has one more scholarship to assign for 2016-17.
