Board of Water Supply responding to Waipahu water main break

The Board of Water Supply (BWS) is responding to a broken 8-inch water main on Farrington Highway at the Hanawai Circle intersection in Waipahu. A repair crew is being assembled and they will be working throughout the night to make repairs to the water main and roadway.

35 BWS customers are without water service at this time. A water wagon is en route to provide affected customers with an alternate water source.

Initially, all westbound lanes of Farrington Highway were closed between Waipahu Depot Road and Makamaka Place. Since then, the right, westbound lane was temporarily reopeend to help alleviate traffic. However, when the crew arrives later tonight and begins their work to repair the main, all lanes will be closed, and westbound traffic will be detoured onto Waipahu Depot Road. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
