An autopsy performed on a 6-year-old Kailua-Kona boy shows he died from trauma.

The medical examiner’s office ruled his death a homicide.

His biological mother identifies the boy as BK Engilo. Engilo was adopted over a year ago.

Investigators say, Engilo was involved in an incident at an apartment complex on Manawalea Street on Halloween. He was unresponsive when he was brought to the Kailua-Kona Fire Station. He was then taken to Kona Community Hospital where he died an hour later.

Big Island police are continuing their investigation into his death.

Police are asking witnesses who may have seen or heard anything in the area of the apartment complex to contact Detective Jerome Manuel at (808) 326-4646 ext. 262 or via email at Jerome.manuel@hawaiicounty.gov or call the department’s non-emergency number at (808) 935-3311.
