New developments in the death of a 50-year-old woman in the Fern Acres subdivision in Puna.

At about 10:46 a.m. Monday, April 27, police received a call of an unresponsive woman on Plumeria Street.

She was taken to Hilo Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 12:05 p.m.

Responding officers contacted detectives after observing what appeared to be a suspicious injury.

The observed injury was deemed superficial, consistent with a fall to the ground, and did not contribute to her death, officials said.
