Question: My neighbor has chickens that wake me early in the morning. Is this allowed in a residential neighborhood?
Answer: If you are bothered by the animal noise, call 911 and an officer will be sent to your location to make an assessment. Also, please be willing to meet with the officer in case the officer has any additional questions.
It is illegal to have more than two chickens per household in a residential area.
Violators can be fined up to $1,000.
Sec. 7-2.5 Special requirements.
(d) Chickens and peafowl. The number of chickens or peafowl shall not exceed two per household.
