A new affordable housing complex is coming to Pearl City.
The building is called Hale Mohalu Two. It was designed as an option for people with low-incomes.
There’s about 332 units up for sale.
Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell helped break ground on the apartment building.
Hale Mohalu Two will also come with laundry rooms, elevators and trash chutes that residents can use.
“Others can live their lives in affordable ways.. People in their golden years. Afforable units. Two bedroom $400 to $800 a month. Find that anywhere on Oahu. Three bedroom for $1,200. Just really fantastic, we need to do more of this,” said Caldwell.
Mayor Caldwell says he hopes to create more affordable housing in the future, and expand beyond the Pearl City area.
