The No. 6 University of Hawai’i men’s volleyball team (11-3, 8-2 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) is set for a pair of matches against No. 10 Long Beach State (8-6, 5-6 MPSF), Feb. 27-28 at Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, Calif.

UH is tied with LBSU in the all-time series dating back to 1981, 38-38. Last season, the Rainbow Warriors split the two matches in Honolulu, coming back in game two to outlast the Beach in five sets after suffering a three-set sweep in the series-opener. When the ‘Bows last faced LBSU at the Walter Pyramid in 2013, the Beach won both matches for the conference sweep.

The Warriors enter the road-trip off of a four-match win-streak, extended last week after defeating CS Northridge two nights straight at the Stan Sheriff Center in four sets. Junior libero Kolby Kanetake led the ‘Bows defense accumulating 35 digs, earning his first MPSF Player of the Week award and UH’s fourth this season.

The Beach dropped two matches in a row last week to BYU. After being swept the first night, LBSU was able to pull off one set victory the second night, but couldn’t overtake the fourth-ranked Cougars for the upset.Matches #15-16
