Volunteers help Hawaii Foodbank ahead of holiday drive

Workers at H&R Block took the day off to give back to the community.

It’s part of a company-wide event across the nation called One Team Day of Giving.

Here in Hawaii, workers volunteered their time at the Hawaii Foodbank, sorting and filling bags of food for people in need.

“For our company, the importance is giving back to the community, and this is one demonstration of how we give back in many, many different ways,” said Jose Prieto, H&R Block district manager. “This is one day we took off of work just to give back to the community. The connection to the Foodbank is because we know it’s a time of the year when lots of different people can benefit from making sure we sort the food so they have food for the holidays.”

This Saturday, the Hawaii Foodbank will host a holiday food drive.

You can drop off donations from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Foodbank’s Mapunapuna warehouse.
