Local News

The Secretary of the U.S. Department of Interior, David Bernhardt, toured the devastation that 2018’s Kilauea eruption left in its wake at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Bernhardt praised the employees that “spent so much time and effort during the event. Making sure that folks were getting good information, good data.”

Bernhardt mentioned the funding that could come to the park for repairs but did not elaborate on the amount, stating that he doesn’t speculate until the budget is sent to the President.
