Four Kauai schools on lockdown

The Kaua‘i Police Department is currently investigating reports of unconfirmed threats made towards Kapa‘a High School and Kaua‘i High School.

There is no active threat identified at this time.

As a safety precaution, the DOE has placed the following schools on lockdown until further notice: Kapa‘a High School, Kapa‘a Elementary School, and Kaua‘i High School. Officials with St. Catherine School have also placed their campus on lockdown as a precaution.

KPD officers will remain on all four campuses until the all clear has been given.

Parents are asked to contact their respective schools regarding student information and/or pickup. Please do not call police dispatch or 911 unless you have an emergency.

No information yet on the cause of the lockdown.
