HONOLULU (KHON2) — At approximately 6:42 p.m. on Tuesday the Honolulu Police Department responded to a 911 call in Nānākuli.

According to HPD officers, a 62-year-old male was the victim of a stabbing.

HPD reported that a female reported that a man was being assaulted. They said that when HPD officers arrived on the scene, they found the 62-year-old male victim on the beach, unresponsive.

HPD initiated CPR but the victim succumbed to his injuries, EMS said, at approximately 7:22 p.m.

The suspect in the alleged stabbing incident fled the scene before HPD officers arrived.

HPD said it is possible that the suspect and the victim were acquaintances and that the incident was not a random act of violence.

On Wednesday morning, CRU officers located and arrested the suspect on suspicion of Murder in the Second Degree.

HPD forwarded the case to the prosecutorʻs office for charges.
