Honolulu police safely ended a bizarre standoff outside the headquarters of the Hawaiian Electric Company on Ward Avenue Wednesday.
According to officials, the ordeal started at 9 a.m. when the man was spotted on the roof.
He made his way to the side of the building, and that’s where he stayed for more than eight hours.
HECO says this did not affect its operations.
The building was not on lockdown, but employees were told to avoid certain exits and entrances to the building as police made efforts to talk to the man.
Then at around 5:30 p.m., the man lost his footing and police took him into custody.
Officials say he was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.
HECO says it plans to pursue trespassing charges.
