Salary Commission approves pay raises for top city officials

Local News

A bump in pay could be coming for city officials, but it’s not the mayor who will be making the most.

The four percent pay raise approved by the Salary Commission covers the mayor, Honolulu City Council, and city department heads and deputies.

The top salary belongs to the medical examiner. Dr. Christopher Happy will be making nearly $300,000 after the pay raise.

That’s more than chiefs of both and the police and fire departments and the mayor.

Unless the city council rejects the raises, they’ll take effect in late June.
