Saint Louis School released a music video Thursday in celebration of its 170th anniversary.
“The Men of Saint Louis” is an original song written and composed by Glenn Medeiros, Saint Louis head of school.
The music video depicts Saint Louis’ long history with French Catholics who settled in Hawaii and eventually founded Ahuimanu College in 1846, which evolved into the College of Saint Louis and then Saint Louis School.
Saint Louis School has a strong connection to France and Medeiros lived in Paris where his singing career was based years ago.
“I was moved by the tragic attacks in Paris and I felt compelled to write this song,” said Medeiros. “My goal is to share the song with the French people and foster a friendship by bringing the Saint Louis name and legacy back to where it started.”
Medeiros explains that the Catholic Marianists’ mission of educating boys with strong values and traditions lives on today at Saint Louis School. “There’s an emotional message in this song as we celebrate our 170th anniversary in Hawaii,” said Medeiros.
Current Crusader students and alumni participated in the song and the video, including performers Sam Kapu III (Class of 1985) and Kapali Long (Class of 2009).
