The Hawaiian Humane Society is warning residents after a report of a cat that was shot by an arrow.

It happened last night in Wahiawa.

Teri Fonoti says she came home and found a cat lying on the ground with an arrow through its head.

“It was kind of weird, because the cat didn’t get up and move like how you would think it would if a stranger was coming,” she said. “As I got closer, I bent down and I looked at it better and I noticed that there was an arrow through its head, and I could hear its labored breathing.”

Fonoti went into her apartment to call the police and the Hawaiian Humane Society. When she came back out, the cat was gone.

“I don’t feel safe, and it’s scary,” she said, “because you don’t know if somebody is in their yard and playing with an arrow in their yard. It can go somewhere. Whatever goes up must come down.”

“We did get a report and our investigator did go out to investigate the case. Unfortunately, the cat and the arrow were both gone, so we weren’t able to collect any evidence,” said Allison Gammel with the Hawaiian Humane Society. “We were able to canvas the neighborhood and provide information to residents that there was an incident that occurred with a cat.”

The Hawaiian Humane Society advises pet owners not to let their cats outside, and if they do, watch them closely.
