Repairs at Waianae Small Boat Harbor are pending after a portion of the dock fell into the ocean.
It happened Monday morning, affecting the main walkway used by commercial operators. No one was hurt.
The Department of Land and Natural Resources says the Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Health’s Clean Water Branch need to finalize the permits before they can move forward.
In the meantime, they’re working with the boaters who have been affected by the pier collapse. Six have already been moved.
“The five boats that are remaining outside of the area where it failed are going to have to use some way of getting out there, like a dinghy or something,” said Ed Underwood, DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation. “We’re opening the loading docks on some of the launch ramp areas to accommodate their needs.”
DLNR opened the bids to repair the dock Wednesday.
