A man accused of murder appeared in court Monday.

Kamaua Van Gieson, 20, is accused of killing Dustin Molina, 18.

Molina’s body was found on a Maili beach last Tuesday, Dec. 5.

According to court documents, Van Gieson’s cousin told police he picked Van Gieson up in Maili on Monday night, Dec. 4, and:

“While within the vehicle, Van Gieson informed (him) that he had stabbed the decedent in the neck at Maili Beach Park and that the decedent had bled profusely. Van Gieson believed the decedent had died, in which he then swam the decedent out into the ocean. Van Gieson told (him) the male he had stabbed to death was a male named ‘Dustin.'”View the redacted court document here.

Van Gieson is also suspected of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend just days before Molina was found dead. He was not charged in that case.
