Four prototype bicycles and docking stations for Bikeshare Hawaii are on display in the foyer at Honolulu Hale now through the end of September.

The four prototypes are competing with one another to serve as the primary piece of equipment when Bikeshare Hawaii launches with 2,000 bikes at 200 stations in urban Honolulu next year.

The public has the opportunity to try out the bicycles and let Bikeshare Hawaii know their preferences.

There will be a public meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday that will address the King Street Protected Bike Lane and future bikeway projects on Oahu. Last week, Mayor Caldwell announced that Honolulu’s next protected bike lane will be on South Street, providing a mauka-makai route for an eventual protected bike lane grid in Honolulu’s urban core.
