Police recover officer’s stolen vehicle, firearm, but other gear still missing

A stolen vehicle belonging to a Honolulu police officer has been recovered and an arrest made in the case.

The vehicle, a 2000 white Honda Civic, was stolen from a parking garage on Piikoi Street in Makiki Tuesday.

Officials said the officer’s supplemental rifle, electric gun, and other police equipment were inside. Sources told KHON2 parts of a police uniform were also stolen.

A suspect, Jonaven Mason, 25, was arrested in Makakilo Thursday for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle. He has not been charged.

Police confirmed the firearm in the vehicle has been recovered, however, additional police equipment remains missing.
