EMS was called to the scene on Eke Place around 9:45 p.m. Police opened a murder investigation.

People who live in this Aiea neighborhood describe the victim as friendly and are shocked about what happened on Saturday night. Residents say loud popping noises rang through the usually quiet neighborhood.

“It was sort of like fireworks,” said neighbor Ray Andres. “We heard some shooting at about 9:30 last night. And by that time the shooting was done the wife started screaming. And that was it and all the cops came.”

First responders found the victim, a 45-year-old man, lifeless with gun shot wounds. Andres says he heard multiple shots fired. He went to the house to discover his friend lying on the ground outside of the home.

“This whole neighborhood knows everybody and we (are) all like family and stuff. We try to look out for each other but there are some things you can’t, you can’t just do yeah,” said Andres.

Family, friends and the community are grieving, as police put together the pieces of the murder investigation.

“He was cool. All friendly. Cool. He was always with his kids. Always going around the block with his kids,” Andres said. “We don’t know how to feel right now.”

No arrests have been made at this time.
