HANA, Hawaii (KHON2) — The FAA confirms two people were onboard a plane that crashed after leaving runway 26 at Hana Airport at around 9:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15.

Maui fire officials reported one person got out on his own while Maui rescue crews got the other person out. One was medevaced, and the other was taken in an ambulance to the hospital for evaluation.

Maui rescue crews say both people did not have life-threatening injuries as of the initial assessment.

The FAA said this was a single-engine flight design CTLS plane.
