Pet adoptions nearly double during fee-free weekend at Hawaiian Humane Society

Dozens of people are added a best friend to their household for the holidays on Sunday.

The Hawaiian Humane Society waived adoption fees from Friday, Dec. 11 through Sunday, Dec. 13.

It says 100 animals were adopted during that time, nearly doubling the average number of adoptions.

Normally adoption fees are $75, which pays for microchipping, vaccinations and spay or neuter.
