A school custodian on Oahu has been honored for going above and beyond.
Pearl Ridge Elementary School custodian Andrew Lagapa was named the Department of Education’s employee of the year. He’s been doing the job for 16 years.
Lagapa was praised for his tireless work ethic and devotion to students.
There was a time when the school didn’t have a full-time physical education teacher so Lagapa stepped up to lead volleyball and basketball practices.
Kailua Intermediate School’s science and engineering department was also honored as the DOE team of the year.
