HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Maui Police Department said a pedestrian died after two vehicles struck him on Kaahumanu Avenue in Kahului.
The collision happened just after 8:45 p.m. Friday, June 17.
A pick up truck was traveling west bound on Kaahumanu Avenue when it struck the pedestrian who was in the outer west bound lane of Kaahumanu.
Another vehicle also going west bound hit that pedestrian who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to MPD.
Kaahumanu Avenue was closed while police investigated on Friday night.
Maui officials said as of 9:34 p.m. the westbound lanes of Kaahumanu Avenue between Lono Avenue and Kahului Beach Road were closed. At first, traffic was closed in both directions but the eastbound lanes reopened before all lanes reopened.
