If you’re catching a flight out of Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, plan on catching a ride to the airport too because you may not be able to find parking.
According to the Department of Transportation, out of the airport’s 5,200 parking spaces, only about 200 remain open as of Wednesday afternoon.
The DOT credits spring break travelers for the parking crunch. Many of the state’s private and public schools are off this week. The University of Hawaii starts spring break next week.
Travelers are encouraged to get dropped off at the airport, or book a shuttle, taxi or another method of transportation.
During holiday weekends, typically the Interisland Parking Structure and the Overseas Parking Structure will fill up first.
