No tsunami threat to Hawaii after 6.8 magnitude earthquake off Japan

HONOLULU (KHON2) — There is no tsunami threat for Hawaii after a 6.8 magnitude earthquake near Japan, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The earthquake struck around 3:35 p.m. Hawaii time on Friday, April 30.

Officials say the earthquake took place near the east coast of Honshu.
