Motorcyclist who died at scene of Haleiwa accident identified

A motorcyclist who died at the scene of a traffic accident Friday night in Haleiwa has been identified.

He was Nilo Sanchez-Castro Jr., 32, of Waialua.

Honolulu police received the call about the accident at 10:50 p.m. on Dec. 4.

A vehicle, driven by a 36-year-old man, was turning left from Oliana Street onto Waialua Beach Road. Sanchez-Castro Jr., traveling eastbound on Waialua Beach Road, collided into the vehicle and was ejected from the bike.

He was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Speed was a factor in the accident, but it’s unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were also factors.

This was Oahu’s 45th traffic fatality this year, compared to 54 the same time last year.
