HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Honolulu Police Department is investigating an accident that occurred on Tuesday night on Farrington Highway in Kapolei.

HPD said the collision involved a 22-year-old male motorcyclist traveling southbound on the highway near Kualakai Parkway at around 7:10 p.m.

The motorcyclist was doing pop-a-wheelies when he lost control and traveled across the northbound lane of traffic and collided with a guardrail. He was then ejected into a nearby grass area.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said the motorcyclist sustained chest and abdominal injuries. He was taken to a trauma center in critical condition.

Police said the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Neither speed, drugs or alcohol appear to be factors in the collision.
