Most public schools reopen after Lane

Most schools were reopened Monday following the storm.

Lahainaluna High and Intermediate, King Kamehameha III Elementary and Princess Nahi-enaena will reopen Tuesday.

“We just want to double check because there were some massive fires,” said Department of Education Superintendent Dr. Christina Kishimoto. “There that those campuses are fully up and running. and prepared our staff. Our teachers will be there today getting ready to welcome students tomorrow.”

There were a total of three fires that broke out on Maui during the storm. The cause for each fire remains under investigation. 

Hanalei Elementary School will remain closed for now because of bad weather conditions.
