The Honolulu medical examiner has identified a Waianae man killed in a moped crash Tuesday morning.
Police said at 5:30 a.m., David Rodrigues, 51, was riding a moped heading eastbound on Farrington Highway when he hit a curb and lost control.
He was hospitalized at Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition and later died.
There’s no word if Rodrigues was wearing a helmet.
It does not appear that speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, police said.
Police closed the highway between the Kapolei Golf Course and Kualakai Parkway while they investigated the scene.
This is the 38th traffic fatality on Oahu so far this year, compared to 46 at the same time last year.
