The all-clear has been given at Mililani High School.
The Department of Education confirmed the campus was on temporary lockdown Monday morning after a student reported hearing possible gun shots while walking to school.
A lockdown went into effect at 8:50 a.m. at Mililani High School, as well as nearby Mililani Waena and Kipapa elementary schools.
We’re told officers searched the campus and surrounding area, but didn’t find anything.
The lockdown was lifted at 9:35 a.m.
“Dear Mililani High Parents and Guardians,
At Mililani High School, the safety of your child is of utmost concern. This letter is to inform you of an incident that occurred at approximately 8:50 a.m. this morning.
This morning, the school received reports of shots fired in the community adjacent to our campus and immediately went into lockdown. HPD arrived and conducted their investigation and a sweep of the entire campus. HPD interviewed witnesses as well as others in proximity to the school. It was determined that there was no threat and it was probably a vehicle that backfired near the YMCA.
Responding officers determined that there was no threat to the school, the ‘all clear’ was given and the lockdown was lifted at approximately 9:35 a.m.”
