Man found dead in Wailuku house fire

An elderly man has been found dead after a house fire in Wailuku.

The initial alarm came in at 4:41 p.m. Thursday from a two-story home on Naniluna Place.

The fire was called under control at 6:19 p.m.

Three people lived in the home. One managed to get out safely when the fire broke out, but another occupant remained unaccounted for.

Firefighters searched the structure and found a 95-year-old man dead inside the home.

Six fire units from Wailuku, Kahului, Kula and a battalion chief responded to the fire.

The cause remains under investigation.
