Man charged with kidnapping UH student pleads not guilty to his 11 charges

The man charged with the kidnapping of a UH Manoa student entered a not guilty plea today, according to officials. 

Austin Joseph was accused of kidnapping the student after hitting a large rock on Kalanianaole Highway, April 3. 

Joseph was initially charged on two counts — kidnapping and unauthorized use of her bank card. 

But his list of charges grew to a total of 11, including counts of theft, robbery, identity theft, car theft and five counts of sexual assault. 

His bail is confirmed at $1 million. 

Joseph’s next scheduled trial will be on the week of June 24.
