A Puna man has been released pending further investigation after he was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred Monday, March 7, in lower Puna.
In response to a 5:14 p.m. report of a shooting in the Kapoho Beach Lots subdivision, officers found a male victim. He was identified as Bryan Lynn Thomas, 56, of Kapoho.
The medical examiner determined that Thomas died of gunshot wounds to the abdomen and chest.
Richard R. Edwards, 72, also of Kapoho, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of second-degree murder. He was released Wednesday afternoon.
