A man who was arrested after a shooting in Waipahu has been released pending further investigation.
The incident happened on Pupukahi Street, near Waipahu Intermediate School, just before 7 p.m. Wednesday.
According to Emergency Medical Services, a 33-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition with a gunshot wound.
Police say the shooting happened after a brief argument.
Joshua Leota, 36, was initially arrested for second-degree attempted murder at an apartment on nearby Pupupuhi Street a few hours later at 10 p.m. He was released Thursday afternoon.
Police previously said they were looking for a second suspect, though no description was released.
