Leonard’s Bakery expecting long lines for Fat Tuesday malasada rush

Local News

Leonard’s Bakery in Kapahulu, who’s famously known for their malasadas, is preparing for a big day Tuesday, also known as Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras or as we know it in Hawaii, Malasada Day.

Leonard’s Bakery will be open at 5 a.m. Tuesday, and if you want to snag some of the sweet treats there, you might just want to arrive that early because it’s going to be packed, warned employees.

“The lines will kind of be all the way out there door, and if it gets really busy we might have to make the customers go on the side to pick up their malasadas,” said employee Elijah Flores.

Damien Memorial School will also be selling malasadas at it’s campus in Kalihi.

The sale starts at 6:30 a.m. and will go to 11 a.m. or until sold out and they could go early!
