Laumaka work furlough inmate Gilbert Rivera Jr., who was reported missing Thursday, was arrested by Honolulu Police and returned Sunday afternoon to the Oahu Community Correctional Center.
The 53-year-old was summoned to meet with his case manager, but did not show up at the office and was reported missing at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Rivera is serving time for Burglary 2 and Theft 2. His next parole hearing was scheduled for May. He now faces an escape charge.
Laumaka is a minimum security work furlough center for community custody inmates, located a block away from Oahu Community Correctional Center. Inmates assigned to Laumaka are either actively seeking employment or working in the community.
