KPD Chief Darryl Perry retires, search underway for replacement

Kauai Police Department Chief Darryl Perry has retired, effective July 31.

Perry has been with the Kauai Police Department since 2007, when he was hired on as chief. Before that, he worked for the Honolulu Police Department.

Michael Contrades is serving as KPD’s acting chief of police while the Kauai Police Commission looks to hire a permanent replacement.

Applications are currently being accepted. The deadline to apply is Sept. 12.
