Kona man charged for damaging Mauna Kea property

Police charged a Kona man with seven offenses for damaging property at one of the astronomy facilities on Mauna Kea.

James Coleman, 30, is accused of forcing his way into the facility while employees were barricaded inside.

Coleman is also accused of trying to ram the vehicle of a ranger who tried to stop him.

Coleman was charged with criminal property damage and terroristic threatening.

His bail is set at $84,000.
