HONOLULU (KHON2) — Three schools on the Big Island were closed on Thursday, January 9.

This was due to a power outage in the area, according to the Hawaii Department of Education.

The three schools affected were Kohala Elementary, Kohala Middle and Kohala High School.

But as of 3:30 p.m., HIDOE officials announced that the power has been restored and that all schools will be opened on Friday, January 10, as scheduled.
