King Kamehameha statue lei draping ceremony

The annual King Kamehameha statue lei draping ceremony took place Friday, June 12.

The statue was adorned with lei sewn by the ladies of ‘Ahahui Ka’ahumanu as well as public donations of plumeria flowers and lei.

“The significance of today’s event is honoring our King Kamehameha and today, this is actually our 99th year that we are doing this, so this is really phenomenal for us,” said Linda Chock, King Kamehameha celebration commissioner.
