KHON2 takes home three 2015 Edward R. Murrow Awards

KHON2 is honored to receive three Regional 2015 Edward R. Murrow Awards, including the highly coveted award for Overall Excellence.

The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) announced the winners Thursday.

The Overall Excellence Award recognizes the depth and scope of the news organization’s on air and digital media, and reflects KHON2’s commitment to working for the viewers of Hawaii.

KHON2 also received the prestigious awards for Best Newscast and Best News Series.

The KHON2 News at Nine with Howard Dashefsky and Marisa Yamane, on the air for less than a year, is the recipient of the Best Newscast award.

And Gina Mangieri and our Always Investigating team’s in-depth investigation into a cold-case murder won for Best News Series.

These awards serve as a reminder of the excellence in journalism KHON2 strives to uphold.

“I am so proud of the work our newsroom does on a daily basis, across multiple platforms. We have a talented and dedicated team committed to quality journalism and serving the viewers of Hawaii,” said KHON2 general manager Kristina Lockwood.

The RTDNA has honored outstanding achievements in electronic journalism since 1971.

The Edward R. Murrow award represents Murrow’s pursuit of excellence in journalism.
