A man is dead after being found unresponsive at the Federal Detention Center in Honolulu.
He was identified as Gavin Galacia, 38.
Staff discovered him in his cell at approximately 1:30 a.m. Saturday, called for assistance and tried to revive him, officials said.
He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Galacia was serving a 74-month sentence for felon in possession of a firearm.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified. No staff or other inmates were injured during the incident.
Galacia’s next of kin have been notified.
The FDC currently houses approximately 450 pretrial and designated inmates.
