Honolulu police to set up checkpoints during holiday season

Starting Sunday, Nov. 1 through Thursday, Dec. 31, the Honolulu Police Dept. will set up impaired driver checkpoints at unannounced times and locations.

This includes, but is not limited to, the Veterans Day (Wed., Nov. 11), Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve holidays.

It is all part of the department’s ongoing efforts to reduce traffic injuries and deaths.

The legal drinking age is 21. Promoting intoxicating liquor to a person under the age of 21 is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one-year imprisonment.
