HONOLULU (KHON2) — Honolulu firefighters rushed to the scene of a 2-alarm fire that set a Kalihi home ablaze.
It happened at approximately 11:41 a.m. on Winant Street. HFD says 10 units, staffed with 39 personnel responded to the fire.
Flames could be seen emanating from the back and right side of the structure.
According to HFD, firefighters on scene managed to secure a water supply and began attacking the flames, which had spread to the back of two other houses.
The intense heat from the fire also damaged two vehicles parked on the street near the affected area.
The occupants of all three houses, which consists of 27 adults and two children, were safely evacuated.
No injuries were reported.
HFD says they requested the American Red Cross to the scene to assess the situation and assist the families if necessary. It is unclear whether a shelter was established for the affected residents.
The fire was under control at 12:56 p.m. and fully extinguished by 1:07 p.m.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
