The Honolulu Fire Department welcomed a new class of graduates on Friday.

The ceremony was held at the Hawaii Okinawa Center’s Legacy Ballroom in Waipahu.

Their training started in September, and it took 33 weeks to complete.

Upon graduation, they will possess National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (NREMT-B) and International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) Fire Fighter (FF) I and II, Hazardous Materials (HM) Awareness, and HM Operations certifications. NREMT-B and IFSAC certifications confer recognition that a fire fighter received training that meets national standards.
