An investigation is underway after a gas leak shut down a busy street Friday morning.
It was reported shortly after 11 a.m. on Ward Avenue fronting the Symphony Honolulu high-rise project.
Police shut down the street between Kapiolani Boulevard and S. King Street while crews worked to fix the leak.
A spokeswoman said Saturday a subcontractor for the project hit a two-inch plastic line. No one was hurt.
“There’s a lot of construction downtown right now and these are always a potential. We always want to remind contractors that they should call dig safe first to make sure that all the lines are marked out,” said Jack Grimmer, EHS Quality Assurance vice president.
The road was reopened at around 11:45 a.m.
