The Hickam AFB commissary announced Thursday that it is recalling 81 and 93 percent lean ground beef products with a packed date of 12/23/15 and a sell-by date of 12/24/15 because it could contain metal shavings.
The product label will state “USDA CHOICE Ground 93% Lean” or “USDA CHOICE Ground 81%” at the top of the label. The bottom of the label will state the pack date of 12/23/15 and sell-by date of 12/24/15.
The products were sold in the Hickam commissary meat department in a flat tray, not chubs. The product was sold chilled.
Customers who have purchased either of these products from the Hickam commissary should not consume it and should return it to any commissary for a full refund.
No other ground beef from the Hickam or any other commissary is identified in this recall.
Customers with questions may call the Hickam commissary at (808) 449-1363 between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The commissary will close at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24 and will be closed all day on Friday, Dec. 25.
